Peugeot 207 Technical Questions/Problems
Hi guys,
Been driving my 207 for coming to 3 months. Now at 9000Km already.
However, during this 9000Km of drive, the engine cut off 5 times before.
RPM will drop automatically. When I turn the ignition key, the engine can crank, can start but cannot idle. The RPM will go back to 800rpm and drop back to 0 again. Cannot re-operate again unless I switch off the whole vehicle and on it again.
I suspect it's a throttle positioning fault. Any of you here have this problem too?

FELS a écrit:Hi kindly please explain what's VTi? My engine is the joint venture with PSA & BMW 120bhp. Please kindly enlighten me on the engine model numbers. I'm quite confused.
It's the VTI 120 bhp . It replaced the old 110 bhp.
I don't know if it's the same problem, but we talked about a similar problem here ( in french sorry) :

Hi thanks. I went to the local agent and the service advisor tried to tune the fuel+air mixture ratio to suit local climate. Not sure how true is it. But they don't allow customers to see them do the job. Up till now about few hundred km, my engine has not shown any problems yet.
Although my car feels more 'powerful' after the session, but nothing is confirmed unless my car goes for dyno.

Hello all,
I need to change spark plugs.
I emailed Bosch and Checked TECDOC and found the following
BOSCH Part Nr: 5960A5
Socket Size 14mm
M12x1.25
Length 26.5mm
Tightening torque 20Nm
I'd like to check above from this what else can I try? I tried to located the above spark plug all over Singapore but in vain. So I may have to settle for an alternative.

eh? Why do you "need" to change the plugs?
Are they defective already?

They are still working fine. I was a mechanic and so I always make it a point to replace my wear and tear parts before they are defective. Spark plugs are recommended to replace every 20000km. I don't like to wait for things to happen before I start doing things about it. So wherever it's financially sensible, I will go for proper maintenance.
I found the the OE in my car is
BERU Spark Plug Ultra
Code: Z233
Type: 12ZR-6 SP03
Order No: 0 002 240 902
Electrode gap: 1mm
Spark plug 1 Earthed Electrode
Spanner size 14mm
Thread: M12x1.25
Thread Length: 26.5mm
Torque: 20Nm

I called up the workshop and was informed that I will have the plugs and air con filter today.
Did some of my own minor maintenance myself. The remaining 2 air con filter and spark plugs due to no stock have to do it today. But took out my air con filter and checked. Replacement is required. Spark plugs have served 20000km. Was quite pissed. I took out my spark plugs and waited half a day for the plug to arrive but the wrong one came instead. So fitted everything back and waiting for today.
I also changed engine oil+oil filter, replaced front brake pads, serviced air filter and topped up coolant.
all are very easy. You can do it yourself too. But engine oil replacement need to hoist up the car for you to slide in to drain the engine oil.

Great. Do you feel a difference with the new plugs or is it not really noticeable?

there's no noticable difference in power. But of course, I must put my car on a dyno before I can say there is really no differece. But my air con cools down faster than the past with a brand new air con filter.

at least one good thing
Good driving
yeah man, spent above S$400 which is about EU200 to do the servicing.
Bought 2 tins of OWS engine oil+ oil filter
4 front brake pads from TRW to replace my worn left caliper (pistonside) pad. The fast wear due to probably my ESP engagement as I make a lot of right turns up my multistorey car park. The TRW I changed into is organic pads. No need to sacrifice noise, comfort for high temperature resistant sintered pads.
I also serviced my engine air filter, replaced spark plugs, replaced air con filter. The drive is more or less the same but I dun like to wait for things to happen before I start doing something about it.
But overall, Peugeots are easy to maintain.

Today I did my mini maintenance on the car during my car wash session.
Attached are the photos of some of the mini maintenance before the wash. I apologise for my lousy camera in advance.
Removal of the wheel mounting bolt cap with the special tool provided with the car.
Loosen the wheel mounting bolts first. So that it can be removed with ease by tool.
Jack up the car at the designated location on the car chassis.
Unscrew out the mounting bolts and take out the wheel.
You will see the Macpherson strut and brake assembly.
Untighten the brake caliper mounting bolt with size 13mm ring or socket.
Open up the brake caliper.
Take out the brake pads.
The caliper piston.
Brake calipers will normally be very dirty and a lot of brake dust contributes to squealing brakes. Clean with a wet cloth.
Beware do not hit or damage the tie rod end which is very close to the brake assembly. A damaged tie rod can lead to failed steering.
Wash rims at the same time.
The OE rims of the Peugeot 207 is from BBS.
Install the wheels back with a torque wrench. Torque = 100Nm (tightening torque supplied by the local Peugeot agent)
Remove the rear wheel. Didn't open up the rear caliper as I don't have the tools for it.
It's my philosophy that if I don't have the right tool, I will not work.
Clean the brake disc with normal soap and water and rotate it as this is only a trailing axle to clean all the parts of the brake disc and caliper.
This is how it looks like under the bonnet.
The air box. I didn't bring torx allen keys with me so I cannot take it out. But the air filter inside is drop in and easily replaceable.
The air con filter compartment.
The air con fiter. There are altogether 2 pieces of filters. One bigger than the other. Don't be fooled that there's only 1. Replace both when it is too dirty.
After an almost 4 hour session with my car.
I also topped up coolant and checked my wiper water reservoir. I will upload more pics next time on my next session of DIY on my car.
I also cleaned and serviced my wiper blades. But I shall not post the pics or share due to tactical reasons. But interested parties can always PM me.
